Error codes

# Wine cooler error codes, read properly.

A code narrows the search and is also the thing most often read wrong: the same characters mean different things on different brands, and a fair number of the codes people look up are not failures at all — they are modes the appliance was left in.

## Find your code, make by make.

Type the characters exactly as the display shows them, or pick the make. Each code has a page of its own: what it means on that brand, what to check, and what not to do.

### Only confirmed codes

Every code here is taken from the manufacturer's own documentation, never from a forum or a parts listing. If yours is not listed, book with the exact characters and the full model number, and we will tell you whether it is one we take.

## Three things before you look it up.

A code is a lead, not a verdict. These decide whether the answer you find will be any use.

01

### Exactly what the screen shows

Copy the characters exactly as shown, or count the flashes of a blinking icon. Photograph the screen before anything else; a door opening or a power cut may erase it.

02

### Model label, photographed

Look on a side wall inside the cabinet, behind the lowest rack, or along the door opening of a column. Code meanings vary by maker, so the label matters.

03

### Are the bottles still cool to the touch?

If they feel warm, keep the door closed and decide where the best bottles will go before anything else. Bottles that are still cool can wait for an ordinary slot.

## What each kind of code means.

Codes fall into a handful of families. The family says more about the likely repair than the characters do — and one of them is not a repair at all.

[How to read a code](https://winecoolerrepair.center/problems/wine-cooler-error-code/)

### Mode, not a failure

53 codes

A setting someone switched on, often by leaning on the touch panel or left over from the showroom floor, rather than a part that wore out: a demo mode that lights the display and the rack lamps while the cooling never starts, a Sabbath setting that turns off the lights and alarms, a child or control lock that ignores every key press, a reminder that the glass door stood open. The cabinet is fine, and its own keys or its manual switch the mode back off.

### Temperature and alarms

39 codes

The cooler read a zone well away from its setting and raised an alarm, sometimes showing the warmest figure it reached while the house was empty. The reason may be as small as a door left resting on a bottle neck or a long outage, or as serious as cooling that has stopped. Keep the glass door shut and feel a bottle in the middle of the rack before doing anything else; the alarm is a warning about the wine, not a diagnosis.

### Temperature sensors

21 codes

The control has lost a believable reading from one of its thermistors: the probe in a zone, the one on the cold plate or coil, or on some models the one watching the room. With no trustworthy number, the cabinet either chills the bottles far below cellar temperature or lets a zone drift warm. A sensor sitting in frost, pinched behind a rack or unplugged during a move is ruled out before a new one is ordered.

### Fans and airflow

12 codes

A fan the control expected to turn is slow, noisy or still. Inside the cabinet a small fan stirs the air so every rack sits at the same temperature; behind the grille or on the back, another carries heat away from the compressor or the hot side of a thermoelectric module. A bottle nudged against the inner fan guard, ice on a blade and dust packed into the grille are cleared before any motor is replaced.

### Compressor and cooling module

5 codes

The part that makes the cold is not keeping up. On a compressor cooler it may fail to start, start and cut out, or run on without bringing the zones down; a start relay is the cheap answer ruled out first, while a seized compressor or lost refrigerant is a sealed system job where age weighs heavily. On a thermoelectric cooler the module or its heat sink fans have weakened, and a warm room makes it worse. Keep the bottles cool while it is diagnosed.

### Door and seal

33 codes

The cooler noticed its door open for too long, or a switch that never reports it closing. Often a rack slid out a little too far holds the glass off the gasket, the cabinet has tipped forward off level, or a hinge has sagged under a heavy door; now and then the door switch itself has failed. Warm air getting in shows as fog on the glass and a zone that will not settle.

### Control board and display

23 codes

The electronics that read the sensors and switch the cooling, the fans and the lights have reported a problem with themselves or lost touch with the display. A loose ribbon cable, moisture that reached the touch strip or a brief power surge is checked before a board is condemned. Boards and displays are usually specific to one model, so the number on the label matters here more than anywhere.

### Power

10 codes

The cooler saw the supply voltage dip, surge or drop out, or is recording that the power was cut while nobody was home. The cause is as often the outlet, a shared circuit, an extension cord or a storm outage as the cooler itself. A breaker that will not hold or a whiff of hot plastic means cutting the circuit at the panel, standing dry and clear of the cooler, then leaving the glass door closed until the technician arrives.

## Questions about the codes.

### There is no page for the code my wine cooler shows. Now what?

We write a code page only after the maker documents that code in a manual or on its support site. Until then, note the code as displayed, count any blinks, and put both into the booking form; the technician checks it against your model.

### If my neighbor's wine cooler shows my code, is it the same problem?

Not reliably. One maker uses a code for a door left ajar where another uses it for a broken sensor, and a few makers renumbered their codes from one model year to the next. Read any code together with the brand and, ideally, the model number.

### Is it safe to reset a wine cooler code myself?

Often yes: close the door firmly, press the alarm key, or unplug the cabinet for a few minutes and let it restart. If it stays gone, it was likely a one-off such as a long browse through the racks; if it reappears the same day, something needs attention. With the bottles warming, leave the door shut and book instead of resetting it again.

### A code is showing, yet the wine is still cool. Do I need a repair?

Maybe not. A good share of the codes people search are modes rather than failures: a showroom or demo setting, a Sabbath setting, a control lock or a door-open reminder. Those pages explain how to switch the mode back without a part.
