Demo mode is a showroom setting found in the basic settings menu of the Vario wine climate cabinets. It switches the cooling function off while every other function keeps working, so the cabinet warms to room temperature. Gaggenau's troubleshooting table names it for a cabinet that is not cooling with its display and lighting lit. Gaggenau wine cooler display · also shown as Demo mode switched on What to do when Demo mode shows on the wine cooler ### Kind of code Mode, not a failure A setting someone switched on, often by leaning on the touch panel or left over from the showroom floor, rather than a part that wore out: a demo mode that lights the display and the rack lamps while the cooling never starts, a Sabbath setting that turns off the lights and alarms, a child or control lock that ignores every key press, a reminder that the glass door stood open. The cabinet is fine, and its own keys or its manual switch the mode back off. ### Usually leads to No repair Open the main menu, go to Basic settings, then Demo mode, and set it to Off. ### Shows up as Wine Cooler Error Code A wine cooler error code appears as letters and digits on the display, a flashing temperature, dashes where a number should be or a blinking symbol, sometimes with an alarm tone and sometimes while the cabinet stays perfectly cool. ### Make Gaggenau Gaggenau wine cooler service at home for a collection that is warming, too cold or out of balance between zones. ### Source Gaggenau RW 414/466 765 instruction manual, troubleshooting Gaggenau Vario 400 series RW 414 765 and RW 466 765, and the earlier RW 414 764 and RW 466 764. ## Before you book, in this order. Each step comes from Gaggenau's own guidance for Demo mode on its wine coolers. Follow it to the end: the last card says whether this is a visit. 01 Open the main menu, go to Basic settings, then Demo mode, and set it to Off. 02 Keep the door closed for several hours while the zones cool back down. 03 If the cabinet stays warm with demo mode off, book a visit for the cooling system. ### Cleared? The display has gone quiet and the cabinet is back at its setting without a new part. Should the code reappear this week, or the reds start feeling warm again, book a visit and mention that it came back. ### What not to do Demo mode is not an error and nothing has failed. If demo mode is off and the cabinet is still warm with the lights on, a fan, sensor or the compressor is next on the list. ## What you may notice with it. Open the main menu, go to Basic settings, then Demo mode, and set it to Off. ### Where is demo mode on a Gaggenau wine cabinet? In the main menu under Basic settings. Select Demo mode, choose Off and confirm. ### Can demo mode come on by itself? It is set from the menu, usually in a showroom or during setup. A factory reset returns the other settings to default, so check demo mode after any reset. ### Is wine harmed by a cabinet left in demo mode? The cabinet sits at room temperature, which speeds up aging over time. A few days rarely hurts sealed bottles; keep them out of light and heat until the cabinet is cold again. --- **[Read on the site: Gaggenau wine cabinet lit but warm: demo mode is switched on](https://winecoolerrepair.center/error-codes/gaggenau-demo-mode/)** **[Book a visit with WineCoolerRepair.center](https://winecoolerrepair.center/schedule/)**
