On December 18, 2007, the Landmarks Preservation Commission voted unanimously to make Dumbo the city's 90th historic district. ## What DUMBO does to a wine cooler. Developer David Walentas and his firm Two Trees Management bought many of its buildings in the late 20th century and remade the area as an upscale place to live and work. Many of its former industrial buildings have been converted into spacious luxury residential lofts. Dumbo began as a ferry landing on the East River and is still marked by Belgian block streets and 19th- and early 20th-century warehouses. [All of New York Metro](https://winecoolerrepair.center/locations/new-york/) ### Tower living A tower's generator keeps the elevators and pumps running but rarely the apartments, so a wine cooler on a high floor warms with the unit in an outage, and the best plan is to keep its door shut and let the insulation hold the bottles steady as long as it can. ### Older housing stock Older houses rarely planned a spot for a wine cooler, so it ends up on an old circuit shared with lamps or a window air conditioner, and a cabinet that stops whenever another load starts points to the wiring first; at any burning smell, the breaker goes off only from a dry panel. ### On the water Along salt water the air eats at a wine cooler's condenser, hinge pins and rack slides, above all on a bar near an open slider or a lanai, and a slow loss of cooling there is checked for corroded tubing and a pitted coil. ## A visit in DUMBO.
