A dual-zone wine cooler keeps two temperatures in one cabinet, usually a colder zone for whites and sparkling wine and a warmer one for reds or long storage. Makers build that in two ways. Some give each zone its own cooling: two thermoelectric modules, or one compressor feeding two evaporators through a valve. Others cool one zone directly and let cold air into the other through a damper and a small fan, and some add a heater to hold the warmer zone up in a cold room. Yes. A few weeks at 45°F does red wine no harm; let each bottle warm before serving.
