What Rest mode
actually means.

Rest mode is Gaggenau's setting for days of religious observance. While it runs, the cabinet switches off automatic door opening, audible signals, the interior light and messages on the control panel, and dims the panel's background. It ends by itself when the chosen time runs out, or earlier from the panel.

What to do when Rest mode shows on the wine cooler

Before you book,
in this order.

Each step comes from Gaggenau's own guidance for Rest mode on its wine coolers. Follow it to the end: the last card says whether this is a visit.

01

To open the door while rest mode is on, reach under the bottom panel of the unit and pull.

02

End rest mode early from the control panel, or wait for the chosen time to run out.

03

After rest mode ends, check the zone temperatures, since no alarm would have sounded while it ran.

Cleared?

The display has gone quiet and the cabinet is back at its setting without a new part. Should the code reappear this week, or the reds start feeling warm again, book a visit and mention that it came back.

What not to do

Rest mode is not a dead light or a failed door module. If the light, signals and door opening stay off after rest mode has ended, a technician should check the control and the door opening module.

What you may
notice with it.

All problems

No repair indicated

Nothing to repair.

A setting someone switched on, often by leaning on the touch panel or left over from the showroom floor, rather than a part that wore out: a demo mode that lights the display and the rack lamps while the cooling never starts, a Sabbath setting that turns off the lights and alarms, a child or control lock that ignores every key press, a reminder that the glass door stood open. The cabinet is fine, and its own keys or its manual switch the mode back off.

Still showing Rest mode?

When you book, copy the code or the blink pattern as the display shows it, add the whole model number, and say whether the bottles still feel cool — a code gives the technician a head start.
