What Loc
actually means.

On the GE Profile PWS06D dual-zone wine chiller, Loc flashes for 4 seconds whenever a key is touched while the panel is locked. Older single-zone GE Profile wine chillers show LOC the same way when a temperature pad is pressed during lockout.

What to do when Loc shows on the wine cooler

Before you book,
in this order.

Each step comes from GE Profile's own guidance for Loc on its wine coolers. Follow it to the end: the last card says whether this is a visit.

01

On the PWS06D, press and hold Lock for 3 seconds to unlock the panel.

02

On an older single-zone GE Profile wine chiller, hold RED WINE and INTERIOR LIGHT together for 3 seconds.

03

Change the setting you wanted, then lock the panel again if children can reach it.

04

If Loc appears with no lock set and the keys never respond, book a visit to check the control.

Cleared?

The display has gone quiet and the cabinet is back at its setting without a new part. Should the code reappear this week, or the reds start feeling warm again, book a visit and mention that it came back.

What not to do

Loc does not mean the cooler has stopped working; it keeps cooling at the last settings. It is also separate from the key-ejecting door lock on older models, which is a mechanical lock and shows nothing on the display.

What you may
notice with it.

The wine cooler problems Loc tends to arrive with. Answer these at the wine cooler before anyone is booked.

No repair indicated

Nothing to repair.

A setting someone switched on, often by leaning on the touch panel or left over from the showroom floor, rather than a part that wore out: a demo mode that lights the display and the rack lamps while the cooling never starts, a Sabbath setting that turns off the lights and alarms, a child or control lock that ignores every key press, a reminder that the glass door stood open. The cabinet is fine, and its own keys or its manual switch the mode back off.

Questions
about Loc.

Can I clear Loc myself?
On the PWS06D, press and hold Lock for 3 seconds to unlock the panel.
Why can't I change the temperature on my GE Profile wine cooler?
If the display flashes Loc when you press a key, the panel is locked. Hold Lock for 3 seconds on the dual-zone PWS06D and try again.
Does Loc on a GE Profile wine cooler lock both zones?
Yes. The lock covers the whole panel, so neither the upper nor the lower zone setting can be changed until it is unlocked.
Can the light still be used while my older GE Profile wine chiller shows LOC?
Yes. GE says the interior light keeps working during lockout on the older single-zone model; only the temperature settings are frozen.

Back to your everyday

Still showing Loc?

When you book, copy the code or the blink pattern as the display shows it, add the whole model number, and say whether the bottles still feel cool — a code gives the technician a head start.
