Wine Cooler Door Not Sealing
A wine cooler door not sealing drifts back open an inch, closes without its soft pull, or leaves a gap you can see at one corner of the gasket, while the glass fogs or the cabinet runs longer than it used to.

What it
usually means.
The door of a wine cooler is heavy: two or three panes of glass in a metal or wood frame, hung on two hinges and closed against a magnetic gasket. Over the years the gasket flattens, tears near the hinge or pulls out of its channel, and the hinges wear or sag under the weight of the glass, so the door meets the cabinet at a slant. A cabinet out of level can hold the door open by a fraction of an inch. A bottle on the top rack pressing the glass, a rack not pushed fully home, or a lock latch bent in a move can do the same. A door that does not seal lets in heat, humidity and dust, and the cooler pays for it in running time, frost and swings.
The 5 causes, cheapest first
Answer these first
Where is the gap: along the hinge side, the handle side, the top or the bottom?
Does the door swing shut by itself from halfway open, or stop short?
Is the gasket torn, flattened or pulled out of its groove anywhere?
Does the top of the door run level with the cabinet, or has it dropped at the handle side?
Does anything inside, a bottle or a rack, touch the glass as the door closes?

Wine cooler door not sealing: 5 checks, and none of them costs anything.
Close the door on a strip of paper at several points around the edge; wherever it slides out freely, the seal is weak.
Push each rack fully in and check that no bottle touches the glass.
Check that the top edge of the door runs parallel to the top of the cabinet.
Also worth checking
- Look at the leveling legs; the front should stand a little higher than the back.
- Tell us where the gap is, the model number and whether the door has a lock.
How soon does it need a visit?
A door that does not seal is not urgent, but it feeds frost, fog and swings. Book a visit before the extra running wears on the cooler.

5 things wine cooler door not sealing turns out to be, from bottle or rack holding the door off to lock latch or door closer bent.
The cost guide-
01 no repair
Bottle or rack holding the door off
A bottle that sits too far forward or a rack pulled out slightly can hold the glass off the gasket. Reseat the racks and the bottles.
-
02 no repair
Cabinet out of level
Most wine coolers are meant to tilt very slightly backward so the door closes on its own; the front leveling legs set that tilt.
-
03 low
Gasket worn or torn
A gasket that has hardened or split at a corner stops sealing there; it is replaced as a whole, usually pressed into a groove around the door.
-
04 low
Hinge sagging under the glass
A worn hinge pin or bushing lets the heavy door drop at the handle side, so it meets the cabinet crooked.
-
05 low
Lock latch or door closer bent
A lock latch or a self-closing cam bent in a move can hold the door just off its seat.
