What Showroom mode
actually means.

U-Line builds a showroom mode into its wine units so they can sit lit on a sales floor. In this mode the compressor and fans stay off while the control and lights work. It is turned on and off by holding two buttons for five seconds, so it can be switched on by accident while cleaning.

What to do when Showroom mode shows on the wine cooler

Before you book,
in this order.

Each step comes from U-Line's own guidance for Showroom mode on its wine coolers. Follow it to the end: the last card says whether this is a visit.

01

Look for a flashing degree symbol; U-Line uses that to show the mode is on.

02

Hold the light and power buttons together for five seconds to switch it off, as described for your model in the user guide.

03

If the unit still does not cool after an hour out of showroom mode, book a visit.

Cleared?

The display has gone quiet and the cabinet is back at its setting without a new part. Should the code reappear this week, or the reds start feeling warm again, book a visit and mention that it came back.

What not to do

Showroom mode is not a failure, and nothing needs repair. A unit that is dark and silent may be in Sabbath mode instead.

What you may
notice with it.

The wine cooler problems Showroom mode tends to arrive with. Answer these at the wine cooler before anyone is booked.

All problems

No repair indicated

Nothing to repair.

A setting someone switched on, often by leaning on the touch panel or left over from the showroom floor, rather than a part that wore out: a demo mode that lights the display and the rack lamps while the cooling never starts, a Sabbath setting that turns off the lights and alarms, a child or control lock that ignores every key press, a reminder that the glass door stood open. The cabinet is fine, and its own keys or its manual switch the mode back off.

In U-Line's own words

When in this mode the only functions will be the control and cabinet lights.

Questions
about Showroom mode.

Can I clear Showroom mode myself?
Look for a flashing degree symbol; U-Line uses that to show the mode is on.
How did my U-Line get into showroom mode?
The same two-button hold that turns it on can happen while wiping the control panel. It stays on until you turn it off.
Is showroom mode the same as Sabbath mode?
No. Sabbath mode keeps cooling with the lights and display dark. Showroom mode keeps the lights on and stops cooling.
Will showroom mode hurt the wine?
Only by letting it warm to room temperature. Switch it off as soon as you notice the flashing degree symbol.

Still showing Showroom mode?

When you book, copy the code or the blink pattern as the display shows it, add the whole model number, and say whether the bottles still feel cool — a code gives the technician a head start.
