What EC10
actually means.

EC10 is Sub-Zero’s warm temperature alarm for the upper cabinet. It is an alarm about the wine, not about a part: the section has warmed past where it should be. On 400 Series wine storage Sub-Zero starts with the room itself, since the unit performs best in a room between 60°F and 90°F.

What to do when EC10 shows on the wine cooler

Before you book,
in this order.

Each step comes from Sub-Zero's own guidance for EC10 on its wine coolers. Follow it to the end: the last card says whether this is a visit.

01

Check the room: a unit in a hot garage or next to an oven may simply be overwhelmed.

02

Make sure the door closes fully and the grille at the bottom is not blocked, then give it a few hours.

03

If the upper section keeps warming, move your most valuable bottles to the coolest dark place in the house and book a visit.

What not to do

EC10 is not a sensor code; the probe is reading fine and reporting real warmth. A failed upper probe shows as EC05.

Questions
about EC10.

Can I clear EC10 myself?
Check the room: a unit in a hot garage or next to an oven may simply be overwhelmed. If it comes back, it needs a visit.
How warm is too warm for the wine when EC10 shows?
A few degrees above your setting for a short time does little harm. Several days well above cellar temperature is what ages wine faster, so act if the upper section stays warm.
Why does EC10 appear after a heat wave?
Sub-Zero says its wine units perform best in rooms between 60°F and 90°F. A room above that range can push the upper section past its alarm limit even when nothing is broken.
Should I lower the setting to fix EC10?
No. The setting is not the problem; the unit is not reaching it. Check the door, the grille and the room first, then book a visit if the alarm returns.

Still showing EC10?

When you book, copy the code or the blink pattern as the display shows it, add the whole model number, and say whether the bottles still feel cool — a code gives the technician a head start.
