What to do when EC13 shows on the wine cooler

Before you book,
in this order.

Each step comes from Sub-Zero's own guidance for EC13 on its wine coolers. Follow it to the end: the last card says whether this is a visit.

01

Check the lower zone setting on the display.

02

Put a thermometer in a glass of water on a lower rack and read it after an hour.

03

Reset the breaker for 30 seconds, and book a visit if EC13 comes back.

It usually turns into wine cooler thermostat and sensor repair. Book with the code and the model number.

What not to do

EC13 is not the upper section; its cold alarm is EC11. A lower probe that has failed outright shows EC07, not EC13.

Questions
about EC13.

Can I clear EC13 myself?
Check the lower zone setting on the display. If it comes back, it needs a visit.
Why would only the lower zone of my Sub-Zero get too cold?
Each section is controlled on its own. A lower probe reading warm, or a part that keeps sending cold air to the lower section, can overcool it while the upper zone stays normal.
Is the lower section the colder zone on a Sub-Zero dual-zone wine unit?
It depends on how you set it; each zone has its own setting. EC13 simply means the lower section has gone colder than its alarm limit.
Should I move bottles when EC13 appears?
If the lower section reads near freezing, yes. Move them to another zone or a cool closet until the cause is found.

Still showing EC13?

When you book, copy the code or the blink pattern as the display shows it, add the whole model number, and say whether the bottles still feel cool — a code gives the technician a head start.
