What SAB
actually means.

Sabbath mode on the under-counter Wine Reserve shows SAB on the display for a few seconds and lights the SABBATH key. While it is on, the interior and exterior lights stay dark, every key except ON/OFF is ignored, and the audible and visual alarms are switched off. Cooling continues. The Freedom columns also have a Sabbath mode, set from the settings menu for a chosen time.

What to do when SAB shows on the wine cooler

Before you book,
in this order.

Each step comes from Thermador's own guidance for SAB on its wine coolers. Follow it to the end: the last card says whether this is a visit.

01

On the Wine Reserve, hold SABBATH for 3 seconds to leave the mode; the keys, lights and alarms come back.

02

On a Freedom column, end Sabbath mode from its screen or wait for the time you set to run out.

03

If the unit still ignores its keys after Sabbath mode is off, check that LOCK is not lit as well.

Cleared?

The display has gone quiet and the cabinet is back at its setting without a new part. Should the code reappear this week, or the reds start feeling warm again, book a visit and mention that it came back.

What not to do

Sabbath mode is not a broken light or a dead control panel. Because the alarms are silent while it runs, a warm cabinet will not warn you, so check the temperature on the display after a long Sabbath period.

What you may
notice with it.

The wine cooler problems SAB tends to arrive with. Answer these at the wine cooler before anyone is booked.

All problems

No repair indicated

Nothing to repair.

A setting someone switched on, often by leaning on the touch panel or left over from the showroom floor, rather than a part that wore out: a demo mode that lights the display and the rack lamps while the cooling never starts, a Sabbath setting that turns off the lights and alarms, a child or control lock that ignores every key press, a reminder that the glass door stood open. The cabinet is fine, and its own keys or its manual switch the mode back off.

Questions
about SAB.

Can I clear SAB myself?
On the Wine Reserve, hold SABBATH for 3 seconds to leave the mode; the keys, lights and alarms come back.
Why are the lights out in my Thermador Wine Reserve?
Thermador's own first answer is Sabbath mode. Hold SABBATH for 3 seconds; if the lights stay dark afterward, the LED strip needs a technician, because Thermador reserves it for service.
Does a Thermador wine unit keep cooling in Sabbath mode?
Yes. Only the lights, keys and alarms are switched off, so the wine stays at its set temperature.
How do I get SAB off the display?
Hold the SABBATH key for 3 seconds. The key-press sound confirms it, and the lights and alarms return.

Still showing SAB?

When you book, copy the code or the blink pattern as the display shows it, add the whole model number, and say whether the bottles still feel cool — a code gives the technician a head start.
