What Replace filter
actually means.

Replace filter is a timed reminder on the Viking 7 Series column. It comes up every 12 months after the last reset. The column carries activated carbon filters that clean the air inside and help keep mold and bacteria down; one sits under the upper wooden drawer.

What to do when Replace filter shows on the wine cooler

Before you book,
in this order.

Each step comes from Viking's own guidance for Replace filter on its wine coolers. Follow it to the end: the last card says whether this is a visit.

01

Remove the upper wooden drawer to reach the filter.

02

Turn the filter with its key, remove it and fit the new one.

03

Reset the reminder from the Maintenance menu.

Cleared?

The display has gone quiet and the cabinet is back at its setting without a new part. Should the code reappear this week, or the reds start feeling warm again, book a visit and mention that it came back.

What not to do

Replace filter is not a failure and does not affect cooling. Viking’s table calls it a water filter cartridge, but the column’s filter cleans the air.

All problems

No repair indicated

Nothing to repair.

A setting someone switched on, often by leaning on the touch panel or left over from the showroom floor, rather than a part that wore out: a demo mode that lights the display and the rack lamps while the cooling never starts, a Sabbath setting that turns off the lights and alarms, a child or control lock that ignores every key press, a reminder that the glass door stood open. The cabinet is fine, and its own keys or its manual switch the mode back off.

Remove the upper wooden drawer to reach the filter.
Why does a Viking wine column have a filter?
The activated carbon filters clean the air in the cabinet and help keep mold and odors away from corks and labels.
Is it a water filter?
The message table calls it one, but the column’s filter cleans the air. It has no water connection for wine.
What if my Viking column smells musty?
An old filter is one cause. Replace it, clean the cabinet, and book a visit if the smell returns.

Still showing Replace filter?

When you book, copy the code or the blink pattern as the display shows it, add the whole model number, and say whether the bottles still feel cool — a code gives the technician a head start.
