What E1
actually means.

Vinotemp's Private Reserve manual gives E1 and E2 a single line and a single meaning: an air temperature sensor has failed. Without that reading the control cannot judge when to cool, so the cabinet may drift warm, drift cold or cycle at odd times.

What to do when E1 shows on the wine cooler

Before you book,
in this order.

Each step comes from Vinotemp's own guidance for E1 on its wine coolers. Follow it to the end: the last card says whether this is a visit.

01

Note which code shows, E1 or E2, and whether the cabinet feels warm or cold.

02

Put a thermometer on a middle rack to see what the wine is really sitting in.

03

If the air is drifting warm, move the most valuable bottles somewhere cool and dark.

04

Book a visit; Vinotemp gives no owner fix for either code.

It usually turns into wine cooler thermostat and sensor repair. Book with the code and the model number.

What not to do

E1 and E2 are not the door code; on the same models a door switch problem shows E7. They are also not a temperature alarm, which on Private Reserve units is a flashing temperature and a beep.

What you may
notice with it.

The wine cooler problems E1 tends to arrive with. Answer these at the wine cooler before anyone is booked.

Questions
about E1.

Can I clear E1 myself?
Note which code shows, E1 or E2, and whether the cabinet feels warm or cold. If it comes back, it needs a visit.
Is E2 on my Vinotemp different from E1?
The manual lists them together with one meaning, a failed air temperature sensor. It does not say which sensor each number names, so the technician confirms it with a meter.
Can I keep using my Vinotemp while E1 is showing?
It may keep cooling, but it is running without a reading it can trust. Watch a thermometer and do not leave a valuable collection in it unchecked.
Will unplugging clear E1 on a Private Reserve?
It may blank the code for a while, but a failed sensor or damaged wiring brings it back. Vinotemp's instruction for these codes is service.

Back to your everyday

Still showing E1?

When you book, copy the code or the blink pattern as the display shows it, add the whole model number, and say whether the bottles still feel cool — a code gives the technician a head start.
