What FEF
actually means.

FEF is the G5 evaporator fan alarm. That fan pushes air across the coil and around the bottles; without it, the cabinet cools unevenly and the coil can ice up. Perlick sends this alarm straight to service.

What to do when FEF shows on the wine cooler

Before you book,
in this order.

Each step comes from Perlick's own guidance for FEF on its wine coolers. Follow it to the end: the last card says whether this is a visit.

01

With the door closed, listen near the cabinet for the soft sound of the fan; note if it is silent while the unit is cooling.

02

Check the temperature at the top and bottom racks.

03

Book a visit; Perlick gives no owner fix for FEF.

It usually turns into wine cooler fan repair. Book with the code and the model number.

What not to do

FEF is not the condenser fan, which Perlick reports as FCF. On dual-zone units the second zone fan has its own code, F2F.

What you may
notice with it.

The wine cooler problems FEF tends to arrive with. Answer these at the wine cooler before anyone is booked.

Questions
about FEF.

Can I clear FEF myself?
With the door closed, listen near the cabinet for the soft sound of the fan; note if it is silent while the unit is cooling. If it comes back, it needs a visit.
How can I tell if the Perlick evaporator fan is running?
The diagnostic window shows E. Fan Output as a percentage of full speed. Zero while the unit is cooling suggests the fan has stopped.
What happens to wine if the fan stops?
Air stops moving, so the racks nearest the coil get colder and the rest warm up.
Is FEF related to the TEL alarm?
Perlick asks you to check that product is not blocking the evaporator fan when TEL shows, so the two can be connected.

Still showing FEF?

When you book, copy the code or the blink pattern as the display shows it, add the whole model number, and say whether the bottles still feel cool — a code gives the technician a head start.
