Perlick wine coolers,
specifically.

Perlick’s home wine reserves come from the same G5 platform as its bar equipment: 15 and 24-inch undercounter units in single and dual zone, panel-ready or stainless, for kitchens, bars and patios. The G5 control spells out three-letter alarm codes and keeps a history of the last ten.

The Perlick lineup

What is particular
to Perlick.

We work on Perlick G5 Luxe and G5 Core wine reserves: 15-inch and 24-inch single-zone units and 24-inch dual-zone units with glass or solid doors. All use the same G5 touch control and alarm list.

Alarm history on the display

The G5 control stores the last ten alarms with a date and time. We read that history before anything else, because it shows what happened while nobody was watching.

Humidity is monitored on wine units

Perlick fits a humidity sensor to its wine reserves and lets you set a humidity percentage, a feature it offers only on wine units. That adds one sensor, and one code (PHF), that other Perlick units do not have.

Zone numbering on dual-zone units

Perlick calls the lower, colder section zone 1 and the upper, warmer section zone 2. T1H and T2H therefore tell us exactly which half of a dual-zone reserve is warm.

Frequent condenser cleaning

Perlick recommends cleaning the condenser every 30 days, and outdoor and near-coast installs have their own rules. A hot condenser (TCH) is often a cleaning problem first.

Parts

Perlick prints the model and serial number on a label inside the top of the cabinet, and we order probes, fans and controls against it. Perlick asks for its own parts, so some arrive after the diagnosis.

Repair or replace

Because G5 alarms name one probe, fan or control part at a time, most repairs are contained. Only a compressor or refrigerant problem on an aging reserve makes a new unit worth pricing.
