What is particular
to JennAir.

We service JennAir 24-inch undercounter wine units (NOIR, RISE and panel-ready, 45 bottles) and JennAir 18- and 24-inch built-in wine columns with touch displays. The two lines use different controls and different help pages.

A humidity sensor and Cellar Mode

Beside two temperature sensors, the undercounter unit has a humidity sensor, and Cellar Mode holds both zones at 55°F with humidity between 50 and 80 percent. It only reaches that humidity if the room itself is humid enough.

Breathes through the base

The undercounter unit vents through its base grille, which also holds the proximity sensor for the Auto Light. JennAir warns against hiding it behind a cabinet door or blocking the grille.

Columns that ask to be cleaned

The wine columns remind you with a sound and an on-screen notice to clean the grille, filter and condenser every six months. Skipping it is a common reason a column runs long and warm.

Controls that can fool you

Cool Off, Showroom Mode and Lock Mode all change what the display shows. A unit in Showroom Mode looks normal but does not cool, so we rule out modes first.

Parts

Undercounter racks, the articulating hinge and gaskets are ordered by model and serial. Column parts are specific to the newer touch-display columns and may take longer to arrive.

Repair or replace

JennAir wine units are built in, often with custom panels, so repair is usually the better choice. On an older undercounter unit with a failed sealed system, replacement with a unit that fits the same opening deserves a comparison.

Questions about
JennAir wine coolers.

How much should a JennAir undercounter wine cooler run?
JennAir expects the motor to run about 40 to 80 percent of the time in normal conditions, more in a warm room or with frequent door openings.
Why does my JennAir wine cooler get wet inside?
Room air carries moisture in every time the door opens, and more in humid weather. Cellar Mode also raises humidity on purpose; drips that keep coming with the door shut are worth a visit.
What should I do when my JennAir wine column shows a cleaning notice?
Switch the column off at the plug or breaker, give the condenser half an hour to cool, then take off the lower grille and brush-vacuum it and the condenser behind it. The ALARM icon clears the notice afterward.
What does E1 or E2 mean on my JennAir wine cooler?
JennAir names these codes without explaining them and offers only a one-minute power-down. A code that reappears afterward is one to book a visit for.
